Ransomware attack can't be ruled out, Optus boss says up to 9.8m customers exposed in cyber attack

Optus has confirmed that in a worst case scenario, 9.8 million customers stretching back five years could be exposed in a massive cyberattack that's thrown the telcommunications giant into crisis. 

The company still has no idea where the attack originated and what the motive might be while assuring customers it's working to ensure their potentially hijacked personal information remains safe. 

I spoke with Optus chief executive Kelly Bayer Rosmarin who says while a ransom demand has not be received she can't rule one out.
