Former ACCC chairman Allan Fels urges shutdown on cosmetic surgery industry to protect consumers from "cosmetic cowboys"

The cosmetic surgery industry is a deepening crisis after distressing evidence of reckless and unregulated practices.

Now there are demands that the entire sector is temporarily shut down so proper investigations can get underway.

Former ACCC chairman Allan Fels says "cosmetic cowboys" as they've been dubbed need "shock therapy" and he wants to see real action to protect consumers rather than an inquiry or more regulation.
