The chair of the US Federal Reserve is continuing to insist he's not trying to engineer a recession in the United States to tame surging inflation.
But the highly conditional assurances from Jerome Powell are failing to convince average Americans who complain the hard medicine to pull down out of control prices will take the world's biggest economy over a cliff.
Mr Powell faced a US Senate grilling in Washington.
