The outlook for rising interest rates is already a hot political issue with a federal election campaign likely to be fought on strong economic management during the pandemic. 

Finance Minister Simon Birmingham told a senate estimates hearing that Labor's uncosted policies could blow the budget and pressure the Reserve Bank into raising rates.
