"Please complain" - Taxation Inspector General & Tax Ombudsman General Karen Payne urges better ATO advice on a taxpayer's right to gripe

Taxation Inspector-General Karen Payne has slammed the Australian Taxation Office for not advising taxpayers of their right to complain about adverse decisions. 

Ms Payne tells AM there needs to be an express obligation for the ATO to fully taxpayers about their rights. 

However, the ATO has pushed back on the recommendation saying it "would not be appropriate to encourage a complaint".
