Technical recession dodged as economic growth beats forecasts - focus now on September quarter where is steep contraction from economic show is certain

Australia's economy bounced from the COVID recession, with national growth rising 9.6 per cent over the year to June. 

GDP rose 0.7 per cent in the June quarter, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics, ahead of expectations. 

But ABC's Peter Ryan says the focus is now on the September quarter growth which could go backwards by 4 percentage points as the economic shock from lockdowns bites.
