Trillion dollar debt overshadows Jobs Summit goodwill; Japan to outlaw the floppy disk, throwback to 1960s despite today's "cloud" era

While there's broad optimism about common ground between unions and employers so far at the Jobs and Skills Summit, one big question stands out.

How to deliver on so many good ideas in the face of an economy creaking from the pandemic and a looming trillion dollar debt?

Economist Ross Garnaut says tax revenue needs to increase and has suggested a super profits tax on mining companies - something that has been rejected by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Also - how many people remember the "floppy disk" from the early days of computing?

They're still a thing in Japanese and used in around 1,900 government procedures.

But Japan's digital minister has decided it's time for the floppy disk to be banned.
