Australia's official unemployment rate has hit the lowest level in more than a generation - a critical development in the final days of a tightly fought election campaign.
The Bureau of Statistics is reporting that the jobless rate fell to 3.9 percent in April - a result that while politically good for the Coaltion puts more pressure on the Reserve Bank to raise interst rates.
