Tech billionaire Mike Cannon-Brookes says AGL's ageing coal-fired power stations could be shut down well before 2035 if his high stakes strategy to take the energy giant into the renewables world succeeds.
Mr Cannon-Brookes has also refused to rule out a full takeover of AGL after his action to derail controversial plans to split the company forced the exit of its chairman, chief executive and two high profile directors.
He says it's possible that criticial baseload power can be maintained during the transition and that consumers won't pay more.
