RBA governor says recession unlikely but warns new COVID variant would be a "whole different world" - Monday Finance with Peter Ryan


With so many dark clouds over the economy and around 15 million Australians stuck at home under lockdown, economists are starting to worry the chances of a double dip recession could be touch and go.

While there's consensus that September quarter growth will go negative, the Reserve Bank governor Philip Lowe though remains confident Australia will dodge a recession as long we can get out of the current lockdowns.

Here's my analysis from RN Breakfast which also features Anna Bligh of the Australian Banking Association on a rise in loan repayment deferrals, 75 percent of them in New South Wales.
