Organised crime tapping emergency COVID19 measures, AFP confirms

Organised crimes syndicates are suspected of exploiting JobKeeper, JobSeeker and early superannuation access. 

The Australian Federal Police has confirmed that $200,000 from more than 50 bank accounts has been "restrained" while investigations continue. 

ABC's Peter Ryan says AFP commissioner Reece Kershaw wants to put a blowtorch to serious organised crime.

Energy giant AGL links executive pay to carbon reduction targets

Energy giant AGL says it's taking a major step for a cleaner future by linking executive pay to reductions in carbon emissions. 

The move makes AGL for first top 50 company to make such a commitment as it prepares to phase out old coal-fired power stations. 

But the Australasian Centre for Corporate Responsibility says AGL's plan "lacks any substantive new commitment".

Sudden Jobkeeper withdrawal would hit economy like a hammer, Grattan Institute report warns

With the $70 billion JobKeeper program half way through, the federal government is being urged to phased it out gradually from late September to avoid a fresh shock in the coronavirus response. 

The Grattan Institute says more than $70 billion in stimulus will be needed to underwrite businesses and to prevent long term unemployment which could scar the economy for years.
